Le Barrage de Grand' Maison


Le Barrage de Grand' Maison is a french-built rock-filled dam (with earth core), situated at an altitude of 1,695 m between the massifs of Belledonne and Grandes Rousses in the department of Isère, municipality of Vaujany.
Measuring 550 m in length and 140 m in height (160 m above foundations) and with a surface area of 2.19 km², the reservoir has a maximum capacity of 137 million cubic metres of water. The hydroelectric facility generates an output of 1,224 megawatts. Linked with the Barrage du Verney, the two dams form the hydroelectric power station of the Vallée de l'Eau d'Olle.
Construction work began in 1978 and was completed in 1985. The facility went into service in 1988.
